What does 1X2 mean on a betting slip? Home, draw and away
1X2 is the three-way match result on a betting slip. 1 means the team named first, usually the home side, wins. X means the match ends level. 2 means the team named second, usually the away side, wins. A pick is right only when the match ends in the one result you marked.

1X2: the three results a match can end in, as printed on a betting slip. The 1 is a win for the team named first, usually the home side, the X is a draw, and the 2 is a win for the team named second. A jackpot asks for one of these marks on every match, as the meaning of a jackpot bet sets out.
What do 1, X and 2 cover?
Each mark names a result, not a score. A 1 is right whether the first-named team wins 1-0 or 4-3, and an X covers 0-0, 2-2 or any other level score. Only one mark can be right for a given match.
The 1 follows the order of the names on the slip, so check which team is listed first. If the market covers only part of a match, such as one half, the marks apply to that part.
Illustrative example: one match, three prices
Illustrative example. A slip lists Team A v Team B at decimal odds of 2.10 under 1, 3.40 under X and 3.60 under 2. A 2-1 final score makes only the 1 right, 1-1 only the X and 0-2 only the 2.
One divided by each price gives its implied chance: about 47.6%, 29.4% and 27.8%. Those add up to 104.81%, and the 4.81% above 100 is the bookmaker's margin. Jackpot combinations and probability explained shows how leg chances multiply across a slip.
How does 1X2 work on a jackpot slip?
Every leg of a jackpot repeats the 1X2 choice, so the possible lines are 3 multiplied by itself once per leg. A 13 leg slip has 3 to the power 13, or 1,594,323, lines. The jackpot odds calculator runs that count for any number of legs.
Some jackpots let you mark two results on one leg, such as 1X for a home win or a draw. That turns one line into two, as compared in double chance vs 1X2 in jackpots.
Which result settles a 1X2 pick?
The operator's rules decide what counts as the result, for example whether extra time is included. Regulation 23 of the Gambling Control (Conduct of Gambling Operations) Regulations, 2026 (L.N. 112) requires a licensee to display the odds, rules and terms of each bet clearly, and bars changes to a bet's terms after it is accepted, except as the Act and the Regulations permit. A leg whose match is called off is dealt with in postponed matches and void legs.
Questions people ask
What does X mean in betting?
X means a draw. On a 1X2 market it sits between 1, a win for the team named first, and 2, a win for the team named second. An X pick is right for any level score, from 0-0 upwards, as long as the match is level at the point the operator's rules use to settle the bet.
Does a 1X2 bet count extra time and penalties?
That depends on the operator's rules for the market, so read them before you place the slip. Regulation 23 of the Gambling Control (Conduct of Gambling Operations) Regulations, 2026 requires a licensee to display the rules and terms of each bet clearly. It also bars the licensee from changing those terms once the bet is accepted, except where the Act or the Regulations allow it.
